Peptides as HTRA-1 inhibitors

Helicobacter pylori is a Gram negative bacteria localized in colonies within the gastric mucosa. It is implicated as the most common factor in the pathogenesis of gastritis, peptic ulcer and gastric adenocarcinoma. The HtrA enzyme is a novel antimicrobial target essential for protein quality control and survival under stress conditions. The aim of the project is to synthesize and verify the antibacterial activity of peptides which structure will be based on the sequence of natural HTRA-1 substrates (e.g. E-cadherin).
